ECHOCARDIOGRAM CONSENT FORM

Risks of an echocardiogram

There are no known risks involved in a standard echocardiogram. An echo does not emit radiation. You may experience some mild discomfort if the ultrasound probe is pressed firmly on the chest wall to obtain a clear image.  You may experience mild irritation from the sticky ECG dots used to monitor your heart rhythm during the echocardiogram.  Echocardiograms are safe in pregnant women.
